Al Sayer: “We appreciate the private sector’s contribution in supporting charity projects”

For immediate release Kuwait- 22 February 2011
Al Mazaya Holding is set for a double celebration on 5 March 2011; the company is preparing a charity festival – themed “Together…Let’s draw a smile” – to coincide with the official opening and operation of Clover Center, its 4000m² state of the art medical complex strategically situated in Al Jabriya District, Kuwait. Proceeds from the event, set to take place at Clover Center, will be donated to the Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice, which works under the umbrella of the Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH). During the festival, a number of companies will be showcasing and selling a selection of products. Visitors will also be able to benefit from free blood, cholesterol, and diabetes tests, as well as various other services under the watchful eye of specialized doctors. In addition, the event will provide investors with an opportunity to learn more about Clover Center with the aim of establishing a connection between companies. A delegation from Al Mazaya Holding, headed by its Chairman Mr. Rashid Al Nafisi and including Eng Slawa Malhas, Executive Vice President for Business Development and Marketing, Jassem Al Ghanim, Vice President of Marketing, and Youssef Al Baijan, Marketing Manager, recently met with Mrs. Margaret Al Sayer, Director of KACCH, to discuss the initiative. During the meeting, Al Sayer thanked Al Mazaya for its support and encouraged all other private sector companies to arrange socially responsible events that would benefit society. She explained: “A children’s hospice is a centre that provides support to children who are terminally ill in a homelike, welcoming environment. It offers flexible, family-centered care and support, which includes palliative care for pain and symptom control, daycare facilities for play and recreation, and residential facilities for respite, emergency and terminal care. Support from private sector companies like Al Mazaya enables us to ease the burden of these children and their families.” Al Nafisi took the opportunity to stress the importance of supporting charity centers and events to ensure the stability of society, stating that Al Mazaya’s support for the Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice is generated from the company’s deep-seated belief in corporate social responsibility and humanitarian aid. Regarding Al Mazaya’s foray into the medical sector, Al Nafisi said: “The development of Clover Center goes hand in hand with the changes in our development strategy and the need for diversification in terms of our projects. We recognize that an investment in the medical sector is different to any other real estate investment, as it is directly linked to the development of people and the country. “Clover Center has witnessed tremendous positive feedback from both medical and social parties, who realize the importance of the facilities offered for the medical sector in Kuwait and the region. And thanks to our solid reputation and the fact that the building process was 100% completed last year, leasing at the complex already exceeds 50%. “Our vision with this project differs from traditional projects in the sense that Al Mazaya will offer both the leasing and after leasing services. These include 24/7 maintenance and cleaning services, assisting investors with marketing plans, as well as assembling all investors under one trademark in order to market Clover Center and widen its presence both in- and outside of Kuwait’s borders,” he continued. Clover Center is one of the most important projects in the healthcare sector in Kuwait and is Al Mazaya’s first investment in this sector. The state of the art medical complex consists of 19 floors of 600m² each, along with additional multi-sized clinics of 200, 300 and 600m² respectively. An additional 8-storey facility flanking the main building is allocated for boutique clinic services, with 130m² allotted for each floor. One floor has been designated for radiology and another for physiotherapy, while an 87m² pharmacy, which was awarded to Al Mufid Company, will occupy the ground floor. Al Mazaya has also awarded an integrated medical centre to Dr. Jamal Al Ghanem, as well as a floor to Images, a MRI center boasting the latest General Electric ultra modern Magnetic Resonance Imagining (MRI) system, which offers the world’s second highest resolution – a first for the region. Clover Center’s amenities include 200 parking spaces in the basement, a valet service, and a number of cafeterias, among others.
